Maybe someday we’ll find a way
to reuse the happiness that others
have refused or given away, claiming
they were too busy to tend to it.
How lucky to find someone else’s
secondhand joy hanging from a rack
at the Goodwill for just a dollar,
and what a deal: Feel how it
shimmers in your hands, unloved,
unworn, the tags still dangling
from each empty sleeve.
